We are proud to offer quality products and services to all our customers, great and small.

We help a variety of animals including dogs, cats, pocket pets, non-venomous reptiles, and exotics. We no longer provide treatment of birds.

We also help rehabilitate a variety of wildlife in conjunction with FOTAZ (Friends of the Alexandria Zoo).

Our staff members come from a variety of backgrounds, but we blend together to make a superb team.  Thanks for letting us help you and your pets.

    Veterinarian
    Dr. Monique Matherne graduated from LSU School of Veterinary Medicine in 2003. She has practiced at Alexandria Animal Clinic since 2004 and is the owner of the clinic. She has a great husband and two wonderful children.  The family shares their home with 2 Weimaraners, a Schnoodle, 1 Scottish Terrier, 3 cats, 2 horses, and 2 goats.

  • Dr. Melissa Robinett

    Veterinarian
    Dr. Melissa Robinett joined our team in December 2017. She is a 1991 Graduate of the LSU School of Veterinary medicine. After 26 years of living out of state, the New Orleans native decided to come home.  She has a special interest in and a real soft spot for geriatric patients, helping them to thrive and be comfortable in their later years.  Dermatology is also an interest of hers.  She and her husband recently renovated an historic home in Washington, LA that they share with their 2 geriatric dogs Alfie & Webster and a new young pup, Miss Rougarou.

    Veterinarian
    Dr. Leah Ducote is a native of Marksville, LA, she graduated from LSU School of Veterinary Medicine in 2014 and joined our team in 2015. 
     Dr. Ducote shares her home with her husband Ben, daughter Lucy, Gump (dog), Shakira (cat), and a brood of hens. Her special interests include, dermatology and ophthalmology.

    Brenda Roberts-Lead CS
    Brenda joined Alexandria Animal Clinic in 2009. She is one of the first friendly faces greeting customers at the clinic. She is vital to helping us serve our customers. She helps maintain a constant flow of service delivery for the clinic. She is compassionate and provides professional customer service. If you call to schedule appointments, request prescription refills, or just call to check on  your pet, she is probably the other voice you are hearing on the other end of the phone. She is passionate about helping pets get the care they need.

    Donna Hampton
    Donna joined Alexandria Animal Clinic in 2020 as the Office Manager. She has been a resident of the Alexandria for 29 years. She has one son and a dog named, Rosie. She brings her skills to the clinic after a career in mental health counseling, program management, development, and implementation. No stranger to owning a small business, she owned a private mental health practice for 10 years. She enjoys cooking, gardening, and nature photography. She loves being outdoors. She is excited for this new adventure and is happy to work with the fantastic staff at Alexandria Animal Clinic.

    Ticia Ivey
    Ticia joined Alexandria Animal Clinic this year in 2022. She relocated to the Alexandria area and joined the staff.

    Mary Fields
    Mary joined Alexandria Animal Clinic in 2009. She brings over 20 years of veterinary experience to the clinic. She has held several positions over her career in the veterinary practice. Also, Mary has experience in grooming as she owned a pet grooming business for several years. She has 4 dogs, 2 bearded-dragons, 1 cat, and 1 chameleon. If you have called the clinic asking about exotics, rabbits, or your pet having unusual behavior, you have probably had a conversation with her. Mary loves gardening, spending time with her family (especially her grandkids) and helping others. She has  a creative giving soul. We are so happy that she is part of the Alexandria Animal Clinic team.

    Dr. Sylvie Sandoval

    Veterinarian
    Dr. Sylvie Sandoval is a 2022 graduate from LSU School of Veterinary Medicine. She recently moved back home to Alexandria with her husband Lucas. They share their home with Maverick (dog), Goose (cat), and Rooster (cat). She has a special interest in Integrative Medicine for animals, specifically acupuncture.
